To be selected for the CPFTA program, high school sophomores must:
• Be residents of Chicago.
• Have a "2.0" or "C" average upon completing their first
2 years of high school.
• Maintain a minimum high school attendance rate of 95%
their sophomore year.
• Have a valid State ID or Illinois driver’s license, with
a good driving record.
To apply, a student must:
• Complete a written application packet.
• Receive parental /guardian permission to participate.
• Have 2 letters of recommendation (one letter from a
community representative and the other from a high school
representative).
• Present proof of a current physical examination.
• Pass a drug screening (urine analysis) test.
• Agree to a background check conducted by the Chicago
Police Department, including fingerprinting, and show no
felony convictions or gang affiliations.
